Home Viewing Safety Tips

By by Kate Barker

The pandemic changed the way we conduct our day-to-day business, and it directly affected the sales of homes in the mountains and beyond, but not always in expected ways! The mountain market is booming, and it’s a great time to invest in real estate. Here are some home viewing safety tips to make the process safer for everyone involved!

For the Seller

1.Arrange for a professional photographer to generate a virtual viewing. Many homes in Canada are selling “screen to screen”, which means no one actually sets foot on the property. At the very least, a virtual viewing will weed out anyone who isn’t serious about buying.

2. Open doors and turn on lights. This will minimize touch points and allow people to view the house without distractions.

For the Buyer

1.Wear a mask! In both Banff and Canmore, bylaws state masks must be worn in all indoor public spaces. While a home isn’t “public”, you are there with your agent so mask up.

2. Don’t touch anything. View the home like an art gallery and keep your hands to yourself! This will make it easier on the current owners who are living in the space.

For Everyone

If you or anyone in your household is sick: reschedule!
